Today, Ukraine needs about 500 billion US dollars to restore all areas that suffered losses as a result of Russian aggression.
This was stated by the head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction and the head of the UkraineInvest supervisory board, David Arakhamiia, at the conference on investments in Ukraine, which is being held in Tallinn, NikVesti writes.
In the first place among the spheres that suffered losses during a full-scale war — housing. Ukraine needs $80.3 billion to rebuild the damaged or destroyed housing sector, which is 16.5% of the total amount needed to rebuild the country.
The second month is occupied by the field of transport. Ukraine needs 73.3 billion dollars, i.e. 15.1% of the total amount, to compensate for the damage caused by Russia to the transport infrastructure. After transport, industry and trade suffered the biggest losses. About 67.5 billion dollars are needed for its restoration today.
Also, some of the areas most damaged by Russian aggression and in need of investment are:
- Agriculture — 56.1 billion dollars;
- Energy sector — 47.1 billion dollars;
- Social protection and life support — $44.5 billion.
«The World Bank estimates that we already have 500 billion dollars in losses. On the other hand, it's good for investors. And it provides many different opportunities, so you can get a great return on your investment,» said the politician.
We will remind that as of March 2024, the amount of damage caused to the infrastructure of the Mykolaiv region during the war reached 5.6 billion dollars. Donetsk region suffered the greatest losses — they are estimated at 38.7 billion dollars. Second place was taken by Kharkiv Oblast, with losses reaching 27.8 billion dollars.
We should also note that by the end of 2023, Russia has caused damage to Ukrainian culture in the total amount of 3.5 billion dollars. Damage caused by the Russian Federation in 2023 increased by 40% compared to 2022.
At the same time, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Russian Federation has caused 2.2 trillion hryvnias of damage to the Ukrainian environment.
