Residents of the Korabelnyi district of Mykolaiv are complaining about the condition of the «Korabel» children’s playground and the surrounding area of the Sports Park at 323 Bohoiavlenskyi Avenue, located near the «Vodolii» sports complex.
Local residents have sent a request to the editorial office of NikVesti.
According to residents, the ship-shaped structure, which for many years was a popular place for children to play, is now in a state of disrepair. Some of the wooden parts have rotted and fallen off, and in places there are missing planks, steps and individual elements for climbing to the upper levels of the structure.
As the playground has several levels and is situated at a height, the damage could pose a danger to children. At «Korabel», frayed ropes and other worn-out elements are also visible.
«This playground used to be one of the best in the district. Now many of the structures are already destroyed or in a state of disrepair. Children continue to play here, so we would like to see it brought up to standard,» say local residents.
According to residents, the problems are not limited to the ‘Korabel’ itself. Nearby is a playground with exercise equipment, much of which is damaged and unsuitable for use.
In addition, certain elements of the skate park are in need of repair. The area is littered with rubbish, giving the leisure zone a neglected appearance.
Local residents hope that the relevant authorities will take note of the condition of the site and the surrounding area and carry out the necessary repairs.
Meanwhile, in response to an enquiry from NikVesti, the municipal enterprise «Pilot» reported that over 74,000 hryvnias had been allocated for the repair of the children’s playground at 325/4 Bohoiavlenskyi Avenue. However, the playground at 323 Bohoiavlenskyi Avenue, the condition of which local residents have complained about, is not included in the list of facilities scheduled for repair.
The company noted that it is prepared to consider the need for repairs provided there are requests from residents and funding is available.
It should be noted that the playground had been in a damaged state since October 2023, a fact highlighted by a local resident on the Mykolaiv City Council’s contact centre page.
In January 2024, the «Korabel» playground was repaired. It was repainted and some structural elements were replaced.
It should be noted that residents of Mykolaiv are also complaining about the neglected state of the area around the «Vodolii» sports complex in the Korabelnyi district of the city.
The paving slabs near the complex have crumbled in places, and the steps at the entrance are partially destroyed and in a state of disrepair. Furthermore, the benches on the premises are damaged, with some of them broken or dismantled. The windows in the building are still boarded up following the shelling, and there is still broken glass on the grounds.
