In order to ensure the success of Ukraine in the war imposed by Moscow, it is necessary first of all to deprive the Russian Federation of the opportunity to advance in the east, use close fire lines and cause economic losses.

Ambassador James O'Brien, the US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, said this on Monday in Washington, Ukrinform cites.

«When I talk about Ukraine's success strategy now, it is about stopping Russia's attempts to break through in the east. And this is the first step to success,» noted the representative of the US State Department.

According to him, this involves depriving Russia of the opportunity to use its fire lines and preventing Ukraine from restoring its economy. This can be achieved by providing the Ukrainians with air defense and other weapons, so that they can wage their struggle for a long period of time.

«Then there is a moment when Russia has to think about whether it can advance further,» said James O'Brien.

In addition, the representative of the US State Department noted, the definition of Ukraine's success is also that it can eventually control all of its internationally recognized territory.

It will be recalled that US President Joe Biden decided to send the second American Patriot anti-aircraft missile system to Ukraine.
