Law enforcement officers of Mykolaiv Oblast are investigating more than 2,000 cases of war crimes committed by Russians

Law enforcement agencies of the Mykolaiv region recorded 2,523 criminal offenses related to violations of the laws and customs of war.

This was reported in the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Currently, the investigation of these crimes is carried out within the framework of 2 thousand 147 criminal cases. 5 criminal proceedings against 8 persons were sent to the court with indictments.

The prosecutor's office said that the law enforcement agencies of the region are conducting pre-trial investigations in 67 criminal proceedings, where 104 children were affected by military aggression, 19 were killed and 85 were injured.

According to facts of damage/destruction of children's infrastructure facilities, pre-trial investigation is carried out in 75 criminal proceedings. 102 criminal proceedings, in which children were recognized as victims, were completed, with indictments and petitions sent to the court.

We will remind, as of January 2024, 12 cases of torture of civilians by the occupiers were recorded on the territory of the Mykolaiv region.

It was also reported that two Russian soldiers who abused and tortured local residents during the occupation of the Shevchenko community will be put on trial in the Mykolaiv region.
