Poll: 64% of Ukrainians support direct talks with Russia

In February 2025, 64% of Ukrainians were in favour of direct negotiations with Russia, which is 28% more than a year ago.
This is according to a survey conducted by the sociological group «Rating».
Thus, in January 2024, 38% of respondents supported direct negotiations with Russia. In August 2024, the share of supporters reached 52%. Throughout the year, this support grew, with the exception of November.

83% of Ukrainians believe that a ceasefire is possible only if there are security guarantees. At the same time, 81% support negotiations involving other countries to find a compromise solution.
91% of respondents strongly oppose possible negotiations between the US and Russia without Ukraine's participation. The majority of respondents believe that normalisation of relations between the US and Russia is primarily beneficial to Russia and detrimental to Ukraine and the EU.
Methodology.
The survey was conducted on 20-21 February this year using the CATI method based on a random sample of mobile phone numbers. We interviewed 1,200 respondents over the age of 18 in all regions, except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas, as well as areas where Ukrainian mobile communications were not available at the time of the survey. The margin of error of the survey with a confidence level of 0.95 is no more than 2.8%.
