Court sentences Mykolaiv resident who leaked data on military boats to 12 years in prison: he wanted to «bring Russia's victory closer»

Oleksandr Abramov, a resident of Mykolaiv, was found guilty of disseminating information about the locations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and denying armed aggression. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

This sentence was passed by the Zavodskyi District Court of Mykolaiv, according to NikVesti.

From the messages the 31-year-old man sent to the Russians, it becomes known that he used to work in the emergency service, and after that he worked in water delivery.

He got in touch with a person named «Liudmyla» in January 2024. He conducted all the correspondence while staying in the village of Radisnyi Sad, near the local «House of Everyday Life». The Russians asked for information on the locations of Ukrainian military personnel in Mykolaiv. Abramov agreed to cooperate and began to disseminate information about the location of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, indicating their location on Google Maps.

He passed on information about the location of the military on the territory of the military hospital and Nibulon. On the territory of the latter, he indicated in detail where boats, terminals and workshops were based.

In addition, the court materials indicate that the man understood that he was committing illegal actions and denied military aggression against Ukraine in pro-Russian chats:

«I feel sorry for the people, there is no Ukrainian army — they wanted to defend the Kyiv regime and the oligarchs' businesses. Russia's goal is to protect itself and help the Russian-speaking people. A vivid example is Crimea, Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, Soledar, Mariupol In all these cities, Russia is building houses, schools, hospitals, kindergartens, creating jobs and paying benefits...», Abramov wrote.

In a pro-Russian chat room «Na samom dele v Nikolaeve» he claimed that «Ukraine was killing children of Donbas».

At the trial, the man pleaded not guilty and stated that he had not committed anything illegal, and all the information was publicly available. In addition, he stated that he did not know that there were military personnel on the territory of «Nibulon».

The court found the man guilty under Part 3 of Article 114-2, Part 1.3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Oleksandr Abramov was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
