The budget is set to allocate ₴3.7 million for two school buses for Mykolaiv

There are plans to transfer 3.69 million hryvnias from Mykolaiv’s budget to the regional budget to co-fund the purchase of school buses for the city’s educational institutions.

The relevant draft resolution has been published on the city council’s website, NikVesti reports.

It is proposed that the funds be transferred in the form of a subvention. They will be allocated to the purchase of buses for general secondary education institutions in Mykolaiv.

The explanatory note states that the purchase of buses for educational institutions in the region in 2026 will take place within the framework of a state programme, which provides for co-funding from the state and local budgets.

Deputy Mayor Anatolii Petrov told NikVesti that the city will receive a total of two buses. They will be used to transport pupils from remote areas to two educational institutions — Lyceum №40 and Gymnasium №29 in the Korabelnyi district.

«This will provide transport for pupils in Years 1 to 11 who live in remote areas. We are transferring this money from public investment funds to the general fund so that it can be used as co-funding.

These buses have already arrived. We will be ready by 1 September (to finalise the paperwork so they can be put into service, — note),» said Anatolii Petrov.

It should be noted that in 2026, local authorities in the Mykolaiv region will have the opportunity to purchase 40 school buses on a 50-50 co-financing basis. So far, interest has been expressed in purchasing 12 buses. According to Alla Velikhovska, Director of the Department of Education and Science at the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, the limit on bus purchases has been set specifically at 40 vehicles.

It should be recalled that six local authorities in the Mykolaiv region will receive specialised school buses. Two of these are in Mykolaiv. They are to be transferred to the communal ownership of the local authorities. The total cost of the buses amounted to almost 27 million hryvnias.

It was previously reported that in 2025, the Mykolaiv region will be allocated a grant of 19.7 million hryvnias from the state budget for the purchase of school buses. The buses were to be specially equipped to transport people with reduced mobility, with space for carers and wheelchair spaces.
