mayor of Kyiv and former boxer

Vitali Klitschko is a Ukrainian politician and former boxer who has been mayor of Kyiv since 2014. As of October 2026 he still heads the capital. He was a member of parliament in 2012–2014 and leads the UDAR party.

In October 2026 Klitschko spoke in the Verkhovna Rada and asked the central government where the air defence paid for with billions was. Earlier he proposed lowering the mobilisation age to 22–23 and accused President Zelenskyy of trying to paralyse the Kyiv City Council.

MykVisti covers his statements on the war, mobilisation and elections, and decisions by the Kyiv authorities on shelters and curfew. There is a Mykolaiv angle too: Klitschko awarded former Mykolaiv Regional State Administration head Oleksandr Stadnik a badge for his help in the defence of Kyiv.
