Next year, the Mykolaiv Regional Council plans to start work on the restoration of the airport, which was destroyed at the beginning of the Russian invasion.
The corresponding item contains the «Program of Economic and Social Development for 2024», which was adopted by the deputies during the session of the Regional Council on December 14, NikVesti writes.
The restoration of the enterprise involves ensuring a high level of flight safety, regularity of flights and improving the quality of service and service culture.
It should be added that the document does not specify the specific amount of funding that will be required to restore the airport.
«To ensure the stable operation of the KP Mykolaiv International Airport, they plan to attract funds from the state and regional budgets or receive assistance from other countries,» the document states.
Responsibility for the implementation of this decision is assigned to the infrastructure management of the regional military administration and the communal enterprise Mykolaiv International Airport.
The Ukrainian defenders managed to repulse the enemy's attacks and prevent him from taking positions at an important strategic point. However, as a result of the battle, the airport was subjected to devastating shelling by Russian troops and was actually destroyed. See how Mykolaiv International Airport looks like after the battles in the photo report of NikVesti.
Note that in the summer of 2020, the airport received the first regular flight from Kyiv for the first time in 13 years. In order for this to happen, money for the repair of the terminal and runway was collected from the entire region — allocated from the regional, district, city and village budgets.
For several years, residents of Mykolaiv flew from here to Turkey, Egypt, Kyiv. Literally a month before the start of a full-scale war, on January 23, the Motor Sich company launched a regular flight to Kyiv, and the day before Mykolaiv International Airport was agreed in advance to be included in the state airport development program for 2022.
