The restoration of the Mykolaiv Gymnasium №2 is delayed: the completion of the work has been postponed to 2025

The restoration of the historic building of the Mykolaiv Gymnasium №2, for which 149.5 million hryvnias were allocated from the state budget, will not be completed in time as planned — by the end of 2024.

During a briefing on September 3, Deputy Head of the Department of Urban Planning and Architecture of the Mykolaiv Regional Government Yevhen Skarlat announced this, NikVesti writes.

As you know, the restoration of the historic building of gymnasium №2 was included in the four objects of the region, for the restoration of which in 2024 the government allocated 1.2 billion hryvnias. From these funds, 149.5 million hryvnias were allocated from the state budget for the reconstruction of the institution.

The tender for repairs was won by the company «Zhytloprombud-8», which offered a price of 145.5 million hryvnias. According to the terms of the tender, the contractor had to complete the work by December 31, 2024, including the arrangement of the shelter and the restoration of the building after the shelling.

At the moment, the contractor has already been paid 10 million 775 thousand 406 hryvnias 31 kopecks for the work performed. Most of them are planned to be completed by the end of 2024, but the final completion of the project may be postponed to 2025.

«The works will be performed during 2024-2025. The main part of the works is planned to be completed by the end of this year, but the final completion may be postponed until 2025,» Yevhen Skarlat noted.

According to the data of the Dream ecosystem, 217 million 788 thousand hryvnias are expected to be spent on the project. According to the budget, 155 million 591 thousand hryvnias are planned for construction, 1919 million 90 thousand hryvnias are planned for the purchase of equipment, and 1 million 498 thousand hryvnias are planned for design.

Restoration of gymnasium №2

The issue of restoring the building of Gymnasium №2 was raised even before the full-scale invasion. In March 2021, the premises of the gymnasium building were recognized as emergency. At the time, a petition was created on the website of the city council to preserve the gymnasium in a viable condition, which was supported by more than a thousand citizens. Two days later, the head of the Mykolaiv regional state administration, Vitaly Kim, said that the regional government is ready to cooperate with the city government regarding the restoration of gymnasium №2.

In May 2021, the head of the capital construction department of Mykolaiv City Council Oleksandr Pozdniakov reported that two companies responded to a commercial proposal to investigate the state of emergency of the gymnasium. It turned out that only part of the roof is emergency, and there is no threat to the educational process. Then the library and museum were «moved out» from the wing of the gymnasium.

Later, the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, announced that they plan to carry out current repairs in gymnasium №2 by the end of 2021, and capital works will be postponed for the time being.
