In 2025, 22.3 million hryvnias are planned to be allocated from the Mykolaiv City Council budget for the rehabilitation of 1,158 children who need special social attention and support.
This is stated in the draft decision of the Mykolaiv City Council «On approval of the Children's Recreation Program for 2025-2027».
This program is aimed at improving health conditions for children of privileged categories, including combatants, internally displaced persons (IDPs), children with disabilities and children with chronic diseases.
In 2024, 8.5 million hryvnias were allocated from the budget of Mykolaiv for the rehabilitation of 515 children. That is, in 2025, the number of children who are planned to be rehabilitated will more than double (by 643 children), and funding will increase by 13.8 million hryvnias, which is 162.4%.
First of all, recreational services are provided to children of combatants. As of 2024, there are 2,522 such children in the Mykolaiv region. A large share is also made up of IDP children — 1,428 people, children with chronic diseases (1,961 children) and children with disabilities (728 people).
The document states that every year the number of children in privileged categories who apply for recreational services at the expense of the budget is steadily increasing. According to the education department of the Mykolaiv City Council, in 2022 there were 9,787 such children, in 2023 there were already 10,697, and in 2024 the number increased to 12,732 people, which is 18.9% more than in the previous year. It is predicted that in 2025 their number will reach 16,242 children, which will mean an increase of 27.6% compared to 2024.
We will remind, in June 2024, a group of 30 children from the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions went to Azerbaijan. The holiday was organized for the children of the fallen defenders, those who are in captivity and those who are currently defending the country.
