500 million hryvnias were allocated from the Kherson region budget to assist the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2024. This is a third of the region's budget.

This was reported by the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, in an interview with Vhoru.

« Approximately 500 million hryvnias have been allocated to the Armed Forces this year. This is a huge amount of money for us, because it is a third of all the money in the region. Now our budget is 5-6 times smaller than it was before the full-scale invasion: only 1.5 billion hryvnias,» said Alexander Prokudin.

These funds were spent on requests from the Ukrainian military for various purposes: from boats to drones and mortars, he specified.

«No one in Ukraine spends more in terms of percentage, not a single region. These funds are spent on everything: from artillery guidance systems to drones, control systems, mortars, which we purchase ourselves. We do all this at the expense of regional and local budgets. Therefore «These are cars, boats, and any radio-electronic means of deterrence, suppression, and so on. We are, you know, experts in all areas of military management. Whatever task the military sets us, we carry out,» said Alexander Prokudin.

Defense money

In 2023, Mykolaiv allocated about 740 million hryvnias for the needs of the Defense Forces.

At the same time, last year the city budget allocated 400 million hryvnias for the military, of which 200 million hryvnias went to purchase housing for servicemen serving in units of the Mykolaiv garrison.

Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych previously also published the city council's schedule for financing the military. 17 new vehicles were purchased and transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine using city funds, and another 89 units of equipment were transferred to units from municipal enterprises.

In 2023, the Planning and Budget Commission of the Mykolaiv City Council also approved the allocation of 9.6 million hryvnia in subventions for the purchase of 415 drones of various modifications, as well as communication equipment and night vision devices for the needs of the military.

In March 2024, 57.6 million hryvnias were allocated from the city budget to support the army, in April — about 107 million hryvnias, and in September — 7 million hryvnias.
