There are over 6,000 sole traders with employees in the Mykolaiv region: how many entrepreneurs are there in the south of the country?

In 2025, there were 6,235 sole traders with employees operating in the Mykolaiv region. In total, they provided employment for over 14,800 people. Meanwhile, the number of sole traders and employees is higher in the Odesa region, and significantly lower in the Kherson region.

Specifically, in the Odesa region there are over 17,000 sole traders with employees, employing more than 44,000 people. In the Kherson region, there are 1,324 entrepreneurs and over 3,000 employees.

In the nationwide ranking, the highest number of sole traders with employees are registered in the Dnipropetrovsk and Lviv regions — over 27,000 entrepreneurs, whilst Kyiv ranks third with over 25,000 entrepreneurs.

The largest increase in entrepreneurs creating jobs was recorded in Rivne (+22%), Kyiv (+20%), Volyn (+19%), Chernivtsi (+18%) and Ivano-Frankivsk (+16%) regions.

Lviv region leads in terms of the number of employees in sole proprietorships: over 74,000 people. Next comes Dnipropetrovsk region with almost 72,000 employees and Kyiv — over 70,000 employees.

In total, in 2025, thanks to the activities of sole traders, over 2.9 million Ukrainians were in employment: around 2.1 million people were self-employed, and a further 817,000 worked as employees.

It is noted that last year in Ukraine, 302,000 entrepreneurs had salaried staff. Currently, approximately one in seven sole traders creates jobs, and on average, there are three employees per entrepreneur with staff.

In January 2026, 664 new entrepreneurs and companies were registered in the Mykolaiv region. At the same time, 584 sole traders and enterprises ceased operations.
