The Minister of Education and Science, Oksen Lisovyi, said that Ukrainian educators should not expect a salary increase until the end of the full-scale war. He explained this by the difficult situation in the budget.
Oksen Lisovyi told about this at a briefing during a visit to Mykolaiv on August 1, NikVesti writes.
It should be noted that earlier the Minister of Education announced a salary increase for teachers starting in January and April 2024. This should have happened thanks to an increase in the educational subsidy, most of which is aimed at teachers' salaries. However, educators did not receive the announced salary increase.
«A painful problem... We all understand that it is very difficult for us to attract young people to teaching in educational institutions. But we have developed the concept of salary increase, the final provisions of the law on education provide for salary increases up to three minimum salaries. We know this, but today we have a critical situation in the budget,» said Oksen Lisovyi.
He noted that today more than 70% of the state budget is spent on defense. According to him, education is the second priority today.
«Today, 70 or even more percent of the state budget is spent on war. We have to hold on. But the position of the president of Ukraine is as follows, and I, as a minister, share this position — education is priority №1 after defense. Let's protect the country, repel the enemy and make education the №1 priority,» said Oksen Lisovyi.
Salaries of teachers in 2024
