In 2023, the Mykolaiv budget allocated 507 million hryvnias to the defense forces. In total, it is almost like the budgets of the front-line cities of Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia combined.
This is stated in the published rating of the Committee of Voters of Ukraine.
The infographic was prepared based on the analysis of official data on the total amount of expenditures from local budgets for the needs of the defense forces from the regional centers and Kyiv, which in total allocated 19.7 billion hryvnias to help the Armed Forces.
Half a million Mykolaiv spent 507 million hryvnias on the defense forces last year and is in the 8th place in the rating, taking into account the fact that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, more than 300 enterprises have relocated from the territory of the region and another 165 have stopped their economic activity. It should be noted that the committee did not take into account another 200 million hryvnias, which the city allocated for the purchase of housing for the military.
At the same time, according to the rating, last year's defense expenditures of the front-line Zaporizhzhia amounted to 276 million hryvnias, while the millionaire city of Kharkiv allocated slightly less — 272 million hryvnias.
According to Kharkiv RMA, as of the end of October 2023, 230 enterprises left the region for a new location. There are no exact data on the business situation in Zaporizhzhia, but it is known from open sources that since the beginning of hostilities, 658 enterprises and individual entrepreneurs have officially ceased operations.
In percentage terms, Mykolaiv's share was 2.6%, and Kharkiv's and Zaporizhzhia's share was 1.4% each.
We will remind that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 597 million hryvnias have been allocated from the budget of Mykolaiv for the needs of the Armed Forces, and another 80 million hryvnias have been transferred to equipment.
Also, ₴400 million was allocated from the Mykolaiv budget for the military, of which 200 million hryvnias will be used to purchase housing for military personnel serving in parts of the Mykolaiv garrison.
