In the center of Mykolaiv, the historical building of one of the buildings of the regional college of musical art is gradually disappearing.
This is stated in the article NikVesti «No grand piano in 50 years has been bought». How is the Mykolaiv College of Music working despite war and terrible conditions.»
This building is located at Soborna, 10a. More than 20 years ago, it was exchanged for a building at 75 Tsentralnyi Avenue, where the now-defunct Docker Tavern is located.
After the handover, the building was promised to be repaired. It should be a three-story building with a full-fledged bomb shelter, a sports hall and a large concert hall, says the director of the college, Anatolii Syrota. However, today the building is «ruined by time», he added.
As of October 2024, the building is in a state of disrepair: of the three floors of the building, only the ceilings of the first floor remain, and the area inside is overgrown with grass. This building is currently surrounded by a construction fence and needs major reconstruction, says the director of the college.
For its reconstruction, «a lot of money needs to be invested,» says Volodymyr Aleksieiev. After all, the land plot where the building is located has bad geology, and capital reconstruction must begin with the foundation, he added.
At the same time, due to the absence of the two upper floors of the building, the adjacent wall of the second building is collapsing. As a result, during the rains, it leaks and destroys the working offices of the college.
The director of the college believes that turning to the regional authorities will not help to solve this problem, so he turned to a specialized company for support and hopes that the college will be helped to repair the adjacent wall between the buildings.
«I appealed, but, let's say, unofficially, to the builders who are now repairing everything that was damaged during the war. Maybe we will be included there somehow. We cannot do anything on our own,» said the director.

Even before the full-scale war, the project to repair the college was done three times, but no money was found for the restoration.
In August 2021, the Deputy Head of the Regional State Administration for Culture Yuriy Granaturov promised that in 2022 they would develop a project for the reconstruction of the historical college building. At that time, he said that the work will be carried out in two stages: the repair of the old building and the reconstruction of the historical building. The Regional State Administration was going to look for money for this from the FDRR or «kick out» through the programs of «Major construction» and «Major restoration».
In April 2021, Mykolaiv musician Volodymyr Aleksieiev drew attention to the critical condition of the college building. He told how for 17 years the local authorities have been making promises to repair the building, but it continues to collapse. At that time, he said that the reconstruction of the facade of the building requires an amount of about 100,000 dollars.
And the team of the College of Musical Arts showed the conditions under which they are forced to work and train the young talents of the region for decades.
At the end of 2021, the then head of the Mykolaiv Regional Council, Anna Zamazieieva, inspected the Mykolaiv Music College and promised to take the matter under personal control. She wrote about this on December 20, the day before the session at which the regional council approved the regional budget for 2022.
In April 2023, a tender was announced for the repair of two buildings of the Mykolaiv Professional College of Music. It was planned to spend 2.9 million hryvnias on this.
And at the end of 2023, the repair of the college building on Soborna, 10 was estimated at 100 million hryvnias. This amount was prescribed in the Program of Economic and Social Development of Mykolaiv Oblast for 2024, which was approved by deputies at the regional council session on December 14.
