The United Kingdom will provide Ukraine with up to two billion pounds for the purchase of air defence systems and missiles for them. This is approximately $2.5 billion.
According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, today, 31 January, the government approved a bill to ratify the Framework Agreement between Ukraine and the UK.
The agreement also provides funds for the organisation of repair bases for military equipment and other weapons. Such bases will be located in Ukraine.
«This will significantly strengthen our defence capabilities. We are grateful to the Government and people of the United Kingdom for supporting us on the path to our victory», the Prime Minister of Ukraine said.
In January this year, Ukraine and the United Kingdom signed a historic agreement on a 100-year partnership to deepen security ties and strengthen the partnership for future generations.
Earlier, the UK and Ukraine signed an intergovernmental agreement on official loan support for the development of Ukrainian defence capabilities.
