Norway will allocate $200 million in budgetary aid to Ukraine through the World Bank’s PEACE programme. The funds will be directed towards supporting macroeconomic stability and ensuring the provision of basic public services.
This was announced by Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko. She emphasised that this contribution is timely and demonstrates Norway’s leadership and unwavering support for Ukraine during the war.
«We are sincerely grateful for this timely contribution, which reflects Norway’s principled leadership and unwavering support for Ukraine at this time of immense challenges… This support is vital for maintaining Ukraine’s macroeconomic stability and ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of essential public services,» the statement reads.
The Prime Minister also recalled that the World Bank’s PEACE programme was launched in 2022 following the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Since then, partners have provided Ukraine with $52 billion, of which $13.4 billion has gone towards pension payments.
Earlier, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide announced a new financial aid package for Ukraine worth $400 million.
