By the end of this summer, the Netherlands and Denmark will transfer to Ukraine 14 Leopard 2A4 tanks, which they purchased last year.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands.
«Ukraine urgently needs more military support, given the heavy fighting on the battlefield. These tanks can play an important role for the Ukrainian army in defense against Russian forces. Together with allies and partners, the Netherlands will continue to support Ukraine as long as it is necessary,» said the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Ruben Breckelmans.
Note that in 2023, both countries bought 14 used tanks that needed repair. Their reconstruction was carried out by the German company Rheinmetall. Currently, the last two tanks are undergoing test trials, and the remaining 12 are ready to be sent to Ukraine. All the tanks will be sent simultaneously for the needs of the Defense Forces by the end of this summer.
It will be recalled that the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU) group, which unites Kyiv's allies under the leadership of Great Britain, concluded an agreement on the purchase of artillery ammunition for Ukraine in the amount of 300 million pounds (over 387 million dollars).
