Finland handed over combat boats to Ukraine free of charge, which will be delivered in transit through Romania.
This is reported by Yle.
As the newspaper reports, the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, disclosed the information regarding Finland's provision of combat boats to Ukraine during a speech before the country's parliament. According to him, the government of Finland asked him about the transit of such equipment through the territory of Romania.
There is currently no data on the number and type of boats, the journalists said.
At the same time, Klaus Iohannis approved the training of about 50 Ukrainian military personnel in Romania, who will be trained to use these boats.
The Finnish Navy has Jehu-class amphibious assault ships and Jurmo- and Uisko-class transport ships, but Finnish authorities have not disclosed the contents of the military aid package given to Ukraine.
Earlier, the President of Finland Sauli Niiniste said that his country has already handed over 22 packages of military aid to Ukraine.
It will be recalled that Portugal joined the Czech initiative to purchase artillery ammunition for Ukraine from third countries, within the framework of which it will allocate 100 million euros.
It was also reported that the UK would spend 245 million pounds (about 310 million US dollars) over the course of the year on procurement and activation of supply chains for the production of artillery ammunition for Ukraine.
