«Fix it at last»: Mykolaiv residents once again complained about the condition of the Shyrokobalskyi bridge

In Mykolaiv, local residents are asking to restore the Shyrokobalskyi bridge, which connects the Central and Korabelnyi districts of the city.

Alla Tarnavska, a local resident, reported this in a comment to the NikVesti newspaper.

She says that the bridge, which was undermined at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, is gradually collapsing, making it difficult for both pedestrians and drivers to move. In addition, the resident complains about fallen curbs and the lack of pedestrian paths.

«There is no path to get up and down from the bridge. On the one hand, it was broken (there were dugouts) and then closed «haphazardly», even the curbs remained under clay. There is no path at all now, only a swamp. And let people go as they wish. In addition to the fact that the road is covered with swamp, there are scattered concrete fences on the ascent and descent of the bridge,» says Alla Tarnavska.

She also added that there are still bottles of «Molotov cocktails» along the paths, which have been lying on the bridge since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

It should be noted that a month and a half ago, local residents appealed to the local authorities with this problem, the corresponding appeal was published in the contact center of the Mykolaiv City Council.

«Many times crews have worked here and things have not been finished. The curb on the bridge is lying down, people are walking there, there is no path, the bottles are still there...» the message reads.

It will be recalled that earlier residents of Shyroka Balka also complained about the lack of paths leading to the bridge and asked the city authorities to build a sidewalk from the Shirokobalsky bridge to the tram stop.

We will remind that in February 2020, the deputies of the Mykolaiv City Council approved the transfer of the Ingulsky and Shirokobalsky bridges to the balance sheet of «Ukravtodor». The vice-mayor of Mykolaiv, Serhii Korenev, said that the Shyrokobalskyi bridge cannot be accepted as state property, because it is not located on a route of international importance. At that time , people's deputy Oleksandr Haydu was ready to provide assistance in finding funds for repairs.

The mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, said that there is no money in the city budget for the repair of the Shyrokobalskyi crossing in Korabelnyi district. The capital repair project of the bridge provides for the cost of works in the amount of 115 million hryvnias. However, the cost of its reconstruction after passing the examination increased to 165 million hryvnias.
