In Germany, law enforcement officers detained the attacker of Ukrainian basketball player Volodymyr Yermakov. Investigations are currently ongoing.

This was announced by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleh Nikolenko.

He emphasized that the matter is under the special control of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

«The Consulate General in Dusseldorf has already held negotiations with the chief of police in Essen. The consuls emphasized that it is necessary to conduct an investigation as soon as possible and bring the culprits to justice,» said the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The consular institution is also monitoring the treatment of another injured Ukrainian. It is known that it is about the Ukrainian basketball player Artem Kozachenko.

According to Oleh Nikolenko, he is receiving the necessary medical care at the Essen hospital. His condition is stable, there are no threats to his life.

We will remind that in Germany on the evening of February 11, unknown persons with knives attacked basketball players from Ukraine. One of the athletes, 17-year-old Volodymyr Ermakov, died in the hospital from his injuries.
