The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed the first loss of an F-16 fighter jet

On August 29, the General Staff of the Armed Forces officially confirmed that Ukraine had lost its first F-16 fighter.

This is stated in the notification of the General Staff.

«F-16 fighter jets of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were used together with anti-aircraft missile units during the repulse of a missile attack by the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine. During the aerial battle, the F-16 aircraft demonstrated their high efficiency, four enemy cruise missiles were shot down by airborne weapons. During the approach to the next target, communication with one of the aircraft was lost. As it turned out later, the plane crashed, the pilot died,» the message reads.

To establish the causes of the accident, a special commission of the Ministry of Defense was created, which works at the place of the plane crash.

We will remind, earlier it was reported that F-16 fighter jets helped repel the most massive Russian air attack on Ukraine on August 26.
