On Tuesday, September 17, the Russian army launched a massive air strike on Sumy and the region. As a result of the shelling, the power grid was damaged.

This is reported by the Sumy Regional Military Administration.

It is noted that settlements in Konotop, Okhtyrka and Sumy districts were affected. The Russians fired Shaheds at critical infrastructure facilities — water supply lines, hospitals, and others — connected to backup power systems. Currently, emergency crews are conducting restoration work.

The mayor of Sumy, Oleksandr Lysenko, wrote that local residents should stock up on water and charge their gadgets, who have electricity.

As a result of the airstrike, electricity was cut off in many districts, wrote in «Sumyoblenergo».

Radio Svoboda correspondent Alyona Yatsina said that more than 10 explosions rang out in Sumy at night.

«There is no electricity, there is no communication either. Water is supplied somewhere up to the 5th floor more or less normally, but with reduced pressure. Trolleybuses do not run. As far as we know, no one was injured,» she added.

Air defense forces destroyed 16 Shaheds during a nighttime drone attack over the Sumy region.

We will remind you that in Mykolayiv Oblast over the past day, air defense forces have destroyed 7 Russian drones.
