Research on cotton cultivation is ongoing in the south of Odesa

In several regions of southern Odesa, agrotechnological research on growing cotton on local soils has been started.

This was announced by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper.

In particular, according to him, five varieties of cotton from Germany, the USA and Turkey have already been planted.

«Five varieties of cotton from Germany, the USA and Turkey were planted in several locations of the region on plots from 0.1 to 2.5 hectares. Despite the difficult climatic conditions, the preliminary results turned out to be encouraging: seedlings, flowering and the first bolls of cotton were formed in all experimental plots,» Oleh Kiper wrote.

In addition, as of today, most of the boxes have already been opened.

«This project demonstrates the real prospects of growing cotton in Ukraine, opening up new opportunities for the development of agriculture in our region,» Oleh Kiper added.

We will remind, since the beginning of the year, almost 10 thousand Ukrainian agricultural enterprises received loans for the total amount of 62.9 billion hryvnias.
