After the material of the Bihus.Info journalists, an official investigation was ordered against the head of the Migration Police Department, General Serhii Shaikhet.
This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.
«Regarding the information published in one of the Internet publications regarding the head of the Migration Police Department, Serhii Shaikhet, an official investigation has been ordered. Appropriate decisions will be made based on its results,» the police press service wrote.
As you know, today the publication Bihus.Info published an investigation, in which it is said that the head of the Migration Police Department of the National Police, General Serhii Shaikhet, lives in his father's apartment worth one million dollars. In addition, during the working day, he almost constantly drives to the sports hall in a company car with «operational» license plates, which by law law enforcement officers must use during operational work.
Who is Serhii Shaikhet?
In 2010, the head of the police of the Mykolaiv Oblast worked as an investigator in the Pecherskyi District Department of Internal Affairs. In 2015, Shaikhet was dismissed from the police because of official misconduct: he did not pass the certification. The man appealed the decision of the attestation commission in court and was reinstated.
In 2020, Serhii Shaikhet was appointed head of the Main Department of the National Police in the Mykolaiv region. Prior to that, he held the position of Deputy Chief of the Odesa Regional Police Department and Chief of the Investigation Department of the Odesa Region.
During a full-scale invasion in March 2022, a scandal broke out between him and the head of the Ukrainian Patrol Police Department, Yevhen Zhukov (Marshal).
Zhukov accused Shaikhet of leaving the Mykolaiv region. The latter, in turn, accused Marshal of self-promotion and stated that he was at work. Yevhen Zhukov then advised him to get out of the bunker and defend the area.
Later Serhii Shaikhet stated that he did not try to leave the city in the first weeks of the war. Instead, according to him, he constantly walked the streets and personally checked the documents of suspicious persons.
In the fall of 2023, Serhii Shaikhet received the rank of police general from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and headed the Migration Police Department of the National Police.
