The Prosecutor General's Office has started criminal proceedings regarding the alleged shooting of nine Ukrainian prisoners of war in Kursk region.
Andrii Kostin, head of the Prosecutor General's Office, announced this.
«The killing of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and an international crime. An investigation has been launched into a violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder. We are doing everything to identify and punish all the perpetrators of the crimes committed by the aggressor country against Ukraine and Ukrainians,» he said.
Prior to this, DeepState analysts, citing sources in 1 separate tank brigade, wrote that the Russian invaders shot 9 Ukrainian soldiers who surrendered as prisoners in the Kursk region.
According to analysts, the murder took place on October 10. The details of the incident are still being clarified, but it was clarified that the dead went to the positions, believing that they were located in the rear. However, they encountered the enemy and entered into battle with him. Due to the limited amount of ammunition, the military was forced to surrender.
Against the background of reports of another possible execution of Ukrainian military personnel, Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets sent letters to the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross, noting that such actions violate the Geneva Convention.
