Drone attack on Mykolaiv: large-scale fires occurred in two districts of the city

On the evening of 21 January, Mykolaiv was attacked by drone strikes. As a result of seven explosions in two districts of the city, large-scale destruction and fires occurred at six locations.
According to the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv region, the attic floor of an apartment building was partially destroyed, and a fire broke out on the sixth floor over an area of 100 square metres. The blast wave damaged windows in four high-rise buildings, a private house and the door of a family outpatient clinic.
At another location, reeds burned over an area of 1,000 square metres. The doors and windows of a boat cooperative were damaged.
A private house also sustained significant damage when it caught fire. The fire was extinguished over an area of 10 square metres.
Explosions damaged windows in the administrative building of a transport company. The railway track was damaged and a car was destroyed.
Fires of garbage and dry grass were extinguished at two sites - a total of 200 square metres.
In addition, a 74-year-old woman was injured in the attack and taken to hospital. Another man suffered an acute stress reaction and was treated without further hospitalisation.
A total of 45 rescuers and 11 units of SES equipment were at the scene. Psychologists from the State Emergency Service and the police, as well as volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross and World Central Kitchen, provided support to the victims at the emergency stations. All fires have been extinguished and the response is ongoing.
Attack of Shahed drones on Mykolaiv on 21 January
Mykolaiv residents heard the first three explosions around 10:50 p.m. Later it became known that the Russian army attacked Mykolaiv with seven drones. Damage was reported in different parts of the city as a result of the shelling.
The authorities reported that two people were injured in the shelling.
As of the morning of 22 January, it became known that the shelling had also damaged the utility company «Mykolaivelectrotrans».
The RMA reported that on the night of 22 January, air defence destroyed nine Shahed 131/136 UAVs in Mykolaiv region.
The police also showed the consequences of the Russian attack on Mykolaiv. The shelling damaged residential buildings, infrastructure and non-residential premises.
