29 fires occurred overnight in the Mykolaiv region: fire reaches nature reserve

Over the past day, 29 fires broke out in Mykolaiv region, including 24 dry vegetation fires covering 55 hectares.
This was reported on 14 March by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Mykolaiv region.
It is noted that one of the largest fires occurred in the Nature Reserve «Yelanetska Steppe», where the fire destroyed 7 hectares of the reserve and another 11 hectares of open space. Rescuers and firefighters worked at the site.
In addition, firefighters extinguished two fires in the private sector:
- a fire in a room of a residential building in the Matveyevka neighbourhood;
- a garbage fire on the balcony of a five-storey building in the Central district of Mykolaiv.
In addition, a Volkswagen Passat car was on fire in Ingul district, covering two square metres. The causes of the fires are currently under investigation.
As a reminder, on 13 March, reeds were burning in the Ternivka neighbourhood of Mykolaiv. Several rescue teams were working at the scene. As of 17:45, the reed fire was contained on an area of 8 hectares.
It should be noted that since the beginning of the year, 127 fires have occurred in the ecosystems of Mykolaiv region, covering more than 123 hectares. The State Emergency Service called it «a fire apocalypse by the hands of people».
