Residents of a building in Mykolaiv complain about faulty sewage system

Residents of the second entrance of building №15 in Mykolaiv complain about the emergency condition of the internal sewage system and the lack of proper response from the management company Municipal Housing Maintenance Enterprise (KZEP) «Zoria».

The residents posted their complaint on the Facebook group «Contact Centre» of the Mykolaiv City Council.

According to the residents, the problem has been ongoing since December 2025. The sewage system in the entrance regularly clogs, there is a constant stench in the room, and there is a threat of flooding in the apartments. Over the past month and a half, employees of the municipal housing and maintenance company Zoria have cleaned the system four times, but the problem keeps recurring.

Residents were also outraged by an announcement posted in the stairwell by the housing and maintenance company. It calls on people to pay for the sewer cleaning themselves. Residents emphasise that the internal networks are common property and should be maintained by the management company.

People are demanding a comprehensive solution to the problem. They are asking for an inspection of Zoria's activities and for the company to be obliged to carry out a full technical inspection of the sewerage system.

«Oblige KZEP to immediately clean the internal sewerage system, conduct a full technical inspection of the sewerage system, eliminate the cause of constant blockages and provide a written response within the time limits established by law,» people are asking.

In response, KZEP Zoria reported that the sewerage system is in good working order and operating normally. According to the company, the cause of the blockages is allegedly the entry of foreign objects — wet wipes, hygiene products, textiles and food waste.

«Employees of KZEP MMZ Zoria have made four visits over the last period to clear the blockages in the specified sewer outlet. During each cleaning, it was established that the cause of the blockages was foreign objects that are not intended to be flushed into the sewer system (wet wipes, personal hygiene products, textiles, food waste, etc.),» the response states.

KZEP also stated that residents are not responding to comments and are groundlessly accusing the management company of inaction.

Response from the Zorya municipal housing and maintenance company

We remind you that residents of an apartment building at 35A Teatralna Street complained about the emergency condition of part of the internal building networks in the basement. According to the residents, the basement is constantly damp, and they are concerned that the pipes could burst at any moment.

Earlier, it was reported that residents of the building at 340 Bohoiavlenskyi Avenue in Mykolaiv complained about the management company «City for People». According to them, the company charges for maintenance, even though it no longer has anything to do with the building.

Residents of buildings on Kosmonavtiv Street also complained about the poor condition of the entrances, which were damaged by Russian shelling two years ago. In response, the management company «City for People. Mykolaiv» said that there is currently no money for repairs and pointed to the residents' own debts. After that, the management company «City for People. Mykolaiv» stated that cleaning the area around the rubbish containers at 34 Oliinyka Street was not part of their responsibility.
