Reeds are on fire in Lisky Park in Mykolaiv

Today, 24 March, reeds caught fire in Lisky Park in Mykolaiv. There were no casualties, nor was there any threat to nearby homes.

The information was confirmed to NikVesti by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in the Mykolaiv region.

Three State Emergency Service units and over 10 firefighters are on site extinguishing the fire.

«The reeds are on fire. The total area affected is approximately 7,000 square metres. There is no threat to the public or residential buildings. There are also no casualties or injuries,» the State Emergency Service reported.

The preliminary cause of the fire has not yet been identified.

As a reminder, in March, reeds caught fire on several occasions in the Aliaudu microdistrict of Mykolaiv. On 19 March, the fire spread across 2 hectares. Environmentalists estimated the damage caused by the burning reeds at over ₴4 million. They contacted the police regarding the fires, as they are most often caused by arson.
