On the night of 6 April, Russian forces attacked Odesa with drones. One of the drones struck a high-rise building, causing damage from the third to the fifth floors. As of this morning, three people are known to have died, including a child.
This was reported by the head of the State Emergency Service, Serhii Lysak.
A further 10 people were injured. Two of the injured are in a serious condition and have been hospitalised, while the rest are in a moderate condition. Among those injured are a two-year-old child and teenagers aged 17 and 18.
The State Emergency Service reported that despite repeated air raid alerts, rescue workers have extinguished all fires. Rescue operations are ongoing, as people may still be trapped under the rubble. It is known that four people have been rescued.
In the Prymorskyi district, a high-rise residential complex and seven private houses were damaged. In the Kyivskyi district, one high-rise building, five private houses, a private childcare facility, a shop and 27 cars were destroyed.
The strikes caused fires in the private sector, a student hall of residence, on the grounds of the childcare facility and in vehicles. Critical infrastructure and administrative buildings were also damaged.
According to the Regional Military Administration, rescue workers, dog handlers and psychologists are working at the scene, and a relief centre and operational headquarters have been set up. Law enforcement officers are documenting the consequences of the shelling as a war crime against the civilian population.
It should be recalled that on 5 April, the Russians also attacked Odesa with strike drones. As a result of the shelling in the Khadzhibey district, residential buildings were damaged and people were injured.
