In the Dnipropetrovsk region, law enforcement officers exposed the head of the district court and his intermediary for a bribe of 2,500 dollars.
This was reported in the press service of the National Police on Thursday, April 25.
According to the investigation, the head of the court demanded a bribe through an intermediary for the fact that he would remove the seizure from the property seized as part of the criminal proceedings. The head of the district court managed to announce the decision and receive the promised funds.
The police documented the receipt of funds by accomplices and the rendering of a decision in favor of the property owner. The places of work and residence of the suspects were searched. Investigators seized the money received as a bribe.
According to the Anti-Corruption Center, Serhii Burhan, head of the Verkhniodniprovskyi Court of the Dnipropetrovsk Region, was detained. He has held the position of head of the district court since 2007.
«A year ago, judge Tetiana Petriuk became the new head of the court. However, a new head was elected in three days, and Burhan again became him. It seems that in this way they circumvented the ban on presiding over the court for three terms in a row,» says the message of the Anti-Corruption Center.
Currently, the men should be notified of the suspicion. Criminal proceedings are being investigated under Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
We will remind, on January 16, the investigative judge of the HACCU arrested a judge of one of the district courts of Odesa, who was found to have received a bribe for making a decision that would help avoid mobilization.
Law enforcement officers also exposed a group of judges of the Kyiv Court of Appeals who received $35,000 in illegal benefits for lifting the seizure of property.
