Over the past four months, specialists of the «Mykolaiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine» have recorded an increase in cases of intestinal infections.
This was stated by the general director of the center, Volodymyr Klochko, during a briefing on May 31, NikVesti reports.
«In our region, the incidence of intestinal infections has increased by 28%. This is an alarming indicator,» said Volodymyr Klochko.
Along with this, the director of the center predicts that the summer season will provoke the occurrence of intestinal infections. This is, in particular, connected with the lack of quality water in the city and the citizens' access to it.
«It was always like that in the summer. The intestinal group of infections remains a problem,» Volodymyr Klochko added.
In addition to the threat of intestinal infections, Volodymyr Klochko notes the risk of cholera spreading in the region.
«Cholera is very relevant for Mykolaiv Oblast, the region belongs to the first risk group regarding the possibility of manifestations of this infection. This number also includes Zaporizhzhia, Odesa and Kherson regions,» he added.
We will remind you how earlier the sanitary doctor said that in the Mykolaiv region the incidence rate of acute respiratory viral infections remains 44% below the epidemic threshold. However, the situation may worsen.
