Since the beginning of 2024, 17 people have been blown up by mines in the Mykolaiv region, 4 of them died.

Artem Vahin, press officer of the main department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Mykolaiv region, told NikVesti about this.

«Unfortunately, since the beginning of 2024, we have had incidents of detonation of the civilian population with explosive objects. We have had as many as 9 such incidents and 4 people died in them. 13 people, where there was a mass detonation, were injured,» he said.

Last year, 2023, 17 people, including one child, died in the Mykolaiv Oblast due to the detonation of ammunition. According to the calculations of the State Emergency Service, there were a total of 57 cases of detonation of the civilian population by landmines last year.

According to Artem Vahin, the main causes of injuries are ignorance and curiosity.

«On TV, on the news, on various mass media, people watch how some desperate people try to neutralize them on their own, move them, and the like. Then the logic works, if someone could do it, then I can do it too,» noted the speaker.

Artem Vahin also emphasized that during the occupation of territories, Russians often disguise explosive objects as household items. When residents return home after de-occupation, they are injured due to their carelessness.

We will remind you that since the beginning of the full-scale war in the Mykolayiv region, the explosive devices of the State Emergency Service have neutralized 22,500 explosive objects, 67 of them were aerial bombs.
