As of March 11, the need for donors of all blood groups remains stable throughout Ukraine. In particular, there is a shortage of blood of all groups in Mykolaiv hospitals.
This is reported by the DonorUA platform.
«Much more people can donate blood than it seems — the vast majority of adults are able to be donors. Today it is more important than ever — there was a shortage of donor blood in Ukraine even before the full-scale invasion, and today our common future largely depends on donors. Over 60% of deaths from combat wounds are caused by blood loss, and by providing blood to the military, we are investing in making sure our loved ones return alive. It is also needed by the wounded who are undergoing rehabilitation, and thousands of civilians,» says DonorUA co-founder Iryna Slavinska.
Blood donors of the following groups are especially needed this week:
- Kyiv: all blood groups;
- Odesa: all blood groups;
- Dnipro: all blood groups;
- Mykolaiv: all blood groups;
- Kropyvnytskyi: all blood groups;
- Kharkiv: all blood groups;
- Kherson: 1-, 2-, 3-, 4-;
- Zaporizhzhia: 1-, 2-, 3-, 4-;
- Ivano-Frankivsk: 4-;
- Lviv: 1-, 2-, 3-, 4-;
- Zhytomyr: 4-.
We will remind that the Cabinet of Ministers allowed the import of donor blood from abroad in case of urgent need or emergency situations.
