A 33-year-old man from Mykolaiv is suspected of helping a foreigner he knows to bribe him for five thousand dollars to make a decision to lift the ban on entry to Ukraine and issue him a temporary residence permit.
Mykolaiv city was detained immediately after receiving a bribe, the police of the Mykolaiv region said.
He was informed of the suspicion under part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine «Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an unlawful benefit for oneself or a third person for influencing the decision-making by a person authorized to perform the functions of the state or local self-government, combined with the demand for such a benefit.».
The court chose a preventive measure for him in the form of detention with the right to deposit bail in the amount of 750 thousand hryvnias.
The man faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
We will remind you that a foreigner was detained in the Mykolaiv region, who tried to bribe a police officer with 20,000 hryvnias. For this, he wanted the latter not to file an administrative report on him for drunken driving.
