The Central District Court of Mykolaiv sentenced a local resident accused of treason.

This was reported by the press service of the court.

The court established that the pensioner sent the representative of the special services of the Russian Federation data on the location of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Mykolaiv, information on the results of hits on higher educational institutions, industrial facilities, and bridges.

In addition, the court found that in the fall of 2022, the accused took a photo of one of the energy infrastructure facilities in Mykolaiv in order to fulfill the task of the representative of the Russian Federation. Namely, what concerned the presence of security, checkpoints, technological equipment, power lines, and nodal power substations located nearby. The defendant sent the photos, along with a detailed description of the objects, to a representative of the special services of the Russian Federation.

The accused did not admit his guilt, at the same time, he confirmed the fact that he took photographs and sent photos and coordinates of the relevant objects. He also reported that he received 5 liters of gasoline for using a car to carry out this activity. His interlocutor, to whom he sent information, wrote that he needed to pick up fuel in a certain city.

His defense lawyer asked to close the criminal proceedings due to lack of evidence, citing that the examined evidence does not confirm the commission of a criminal offense by her client.

Based on the results of the investigation, the court concluded that the accused was guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Earlier, a resident of the Mykolaiv Region was sentenced to 11 years in prison, who collected information about the positions of the Armed Forces and HIMARS in order to adjust missile strikes by the enemy.
