On Tuesday, March 5, Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov submitted a statement on the resignation of his government.

This is reported by BTA.

It should be noted that he submitted his resignation a day earlier than the planned deadline as part of the previously agreed rotation.

According to the agreement reached at the beginning of June 2023 between the two largest groups in the current parliament, «Continuing the changes — Democratic Bulgaria» (PO-DB) and GERB-SDS, Nikolai Denkov and Deputy Prime Minister Maria Gabriel were to take the positions of Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister during the nine-month period.

In compliance with this agreement, both parliamentary groups, as well as the «Movement for Rights and Freedoms» voted for the appointment of Denkov's cabinet to the position on June 6, 2023. The rotation was supposed to take place on March 6, 2024.

As the publication notes, in the coming days they can determine whether Bulgaria will get a new government, whether early parliamentary elections will be held in June together with the elections to the European Parliament in the country on June 9.

We will remind you that Bulgaria has started sending 100 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine from the warehouses of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in accordance with the agreement concluded last year.

Note that on December 8, 2023, the Bulgarian parliament overrode the president's veto on sending armored vehicles to Ukraine as aid.
