As of June 3, as a result of Russian missile strikes over the past two nights, Ukraine lost 9.2 GW of electricity generation capacity.

This was reported by the Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine, Katarina Maternova.

«We discussed Ukraine's key priorities for the coming months, including the urgent need for energy equipment to help mitigate the effects of ongoing Russian missile attacks on energy infrastructure. Taking into account the attack carried out two nights ago, Russia destroyed 9.2 GW of Ukrainian generation,» the message reads.

It was previously reported that power outages for the population, which began on May 14, 2024, will last until August-September. In winter, a deficit in the energy system is predicted even at high temperatures.

Recently, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that the Ministry of Energy and Ukrenergo should develop a resolution that will regulate «fair schedules of turning off the lights for consumers.»
