Since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, 28 men who tried to illegally cross the border with Ukraine have drowned in the Tisza River.

On May 10, the spokesman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Andrii Demchenko announced this on the air of the telethon.

He explained that the Tisza has a fast current and a dangerous bottom, so men trying to flee the country often do not have enough strength to cross it.

According to the spokesperson of the SBGSU, since the beginning of the full-scale war, 35 bodies have been discovered near the border, who tried to illegally escape from Ukraine.

Andrii Demchenko added that the State Border Guard Service is intensifying control at the border as much as possible, using video surveillance, drones and increasing the number of border posts.

Earlier it was reported that in Transcarpathia border guards detained four men who tried to cross the border across the Tisza River in a rubber boat.

In the same case, border guards detained two minors and two men with inflatable rings for swimming.
