Counter-intelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine detained a resident of Dnipro, who was probably helping the Russian Federation to direct missiles and drones at the city.

The SSU wrote about this in their Telegram.

According to the intelligence service, the man was trying to identify the firing positions of Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile defense systems. He also recorded the main routes of movement of units of the Armed Forces.

The suspect passed the information he received to one of the famous bloggers of the United Russia political party, who lives in the Russian Federation.

«After receiving the intelligence information, the propagandist presented it in public places under the control of the Russian special services. In the future, the enemy used this data to prepare missile and drone strikes on the Dnipro,» the report said.

SBU employees exposed the man at the initial stage of his activity. According to the investigation, he turned out to be a specialist in the field of IT technologies, an ideological supporter of Russia. In the summer of 2023, he began publishing posts in support of the Russian Federation on the banned Vkontakte social network.

«In this way, he attracted the attention of a Russian blogger, who offered the e-tishnik cooperation for the benefit of the Russian Federation,» the press service clarified.

In order to collect intelligence, the person involved traveled around the city in «routes», from which he covertly photographed places where Ukrainian troops were likely to stay or pass through.

During the search, the special service officers seized computer equipment and a mobile phone with evidence of criminal activities from the detainee, and also recorded money transfers from the Russian Federation to his cryptocurrency wallet.

SSU investigators informed the suspect of suspicion under part 3 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The suspect is currently in custody. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
