In Ukraine, two hydroelectric power stations were decommissioned due to strikes by the Russian army on May 8.

«On Wednesday, May 8, during the morning shelling of critical infrastructure, significant damage was also done to hydropower facilities. The enemy continues to massively attack and destroy Ukraine's energy infrastructure, delivering devastating targeted strikes. As of today, the entire hydro generation has suffered devastating damage,» the report says.

Ukrhydroenergo added that the destroyed equipment requires considerable efforts for repair, restoration and significant financial resources.

As you know, during the shelling of Ukraine on March 22, Russian troops hit Ukraine's largest hydroelectric power station — DniproHES in Zaporizhzhia.

Ihor Syrota said that there were two direct hits at the Dnipro HPP — HPP-1 and HPP-2. It is not known whether it will be possible to restore HPP-2, it is seriously damaged. One of the rockets hit the support, the crane beams were broken. The engine room and electrical equipment will have to be completely restored. The scale of the consequences will be clear during the day.

Due to the impact on the DniproHES hydroelectric plant in Zaporizhzhia , a large-scale leakage of oil products into the Dnipro River occurred.
