Young people calling on the Voznesensk authorities to repair the skatepark

In Voznesensk, young people are calling on the local authorities to repair the skatepark, which, they say, is in a poor state of repair.

This was reported on Facebook by local resident Liudmyla Kovbysh.

She said that the children want their voices to be heard and for safe conditions to be created for them to practise sport.

«Our children, our young people, want to be heard. Please, those of you who can change the situation at our Voznesensk skate park — do so. Young people want to develop, not just sit on benches and kerbs,» she wrote.

In addition, the young people have set up a TikTok page called «Voznesensk Skate Park», where they post videos showing the current state of the park. According to the creators, it is dangerous to skate there due to the damaged surface and worn-out structures, so they are asking for a safe place to practise to be set up.

«Voznesensk Council, please build us a skate park. It’s impossible to skate in these conditions,» notes the author of one of the videos.

In their posts, the young people also regularly tag the Voznesensk Youth Council. Its representatives have already responded to one of the appeals.

«We’ve heard you,» commented the Youth Council.

It should be noted that the skatepark in Voznesensk is located in Independence Park in the city’s Northern neighbourhood. It was built with the support of the Voznesensk City Council and opened in July 2016. The site is equipped with run-up slopes and ramps suitable for both beginners and experienced riders.

As a reminder, in May, the skatepark on Kherson Highway in Mykolaiv was refurbished, with its main features restored.

This is the skatepark that opened in September 2020 following a successful bid in the participatory budgeting competition. At the time, nearly one million hryvnias were allocated for its development. The facility is designed for cycling, skateboarding and rollerblading, and also features ramps for tricks. No major repairs have been carried out there since it opened.

In a comment to NikVesti, Ihor Holovatyi, director of the municipal enterprise DEZ «Pilot», stated that repairs were scheduled for May. This was because, due to the specific nature of the materials, work could not begin until the warmer weather arrived.

The skate park is managed by the DEZ «Pilot». It has been in a state of disrepair for several years now. The city did not have the funds for a major refurbishment, but there were plans to renovate the facilities.
