Plans are afoot to build new sewage treatment works in Bashtanka, Mykolaiv region. To this end, the town council has launched a tender for the development of a detailed site plan.

This is according to data from the ProZorro e-procurement system, as reported by NikVesti.

The estimated cost of drawing up the documentation is 500,000 hryvnias.

A detailed site plan is required to determine exactly how the future treatment works can be situated on the allocated plot and to lay the groundwork for further design work.

According to the technical specifications, the documentation will be drawn up for a plot of land within the boundaries of Bashtanka. When preparing the materials, specialists must also take into account the surrounding area, including a 150-metre-wide sanitary protection zone. The total area covered by the works is approximately 17.8 hectares.

The winner of the tender is to be determined based on the results of an open tender. Bids from participants will be accepted until 30 October 2026.

Under the terms of the procurement, the documentation must be prepared by 30 April 2027. Payment for the services will be made in stages, following the completion of the relevant works.

At this stage, the focus is solely on the preparation of urban planning documentation, rather than the actual construction of the treatment facilities.

It should be noted that «Mykolaivvodokanal» remains the largest source of polluted effluent discharge among municipal enterprises in the Mykolaiv region. In 2025, the company discharged 15.941 million cubic metres of such water into the Buh Estuary and the Vitovka River. Almost 2.9 million cubic metres of this entered water bodies without being treated.
