A festive puppet show for children in Mykolaiv from vulnerable groups of the population

In Mykolaiv, on the occasion of St. Nicholas' Day, a charity play was shown for children from socially disadvantaged groups of the population.

With the support of the Swiss charitable foundation Bär und Leu, the children were entertained by the actors of the Mykolaiv Drama Theater of Puppets, reports NikVesti.

«My friend lives in Switzerland, she evacuated there with her child. She called me and said that there is such a Swiss fund Bär und Leu, they help the children of Ukraine. She asked what we could do for Nikolaev. I suggested making a theatrical performance, such a theatrical project. We applied and received funding. This is for families with many children, for children of defenders of Ukraine, for those who have one father or mother. There are a lot of children and, fortunately, we were given funding for two events,» said project organizer Olena Malinchyk.

The woman says that the purpose of such an event is to support children, their socialization and cultural development.

«We want to draw attention to the fact that children need communication, we want to support them culturally, morally, emotionally, and for this purpose such a project was created. So that the children could get aesthetic and cultural satisfaction, develop, and we also wanted to support the theater,» said Olena Malinchyk.

In addition to St. Nicholas, the children were visited by fairy-tale characters from the puppet theater, who held various competitions and games for them, dedicated to the holiday.

«There will be a little history, fairy-tale characters will tell what winter holidays exist and how they prepare for them. Fairy-tale characters from our other plays are coming — they are the hamster Timonia and the cat Kytsyk. They and the children will hold winter entertainment, competitions, games and a festive disco», said the head of the literary and dramaturgical part of the Mykolaiv Academic Regional Puppet Theater Olena Antonova.
