State-of-the-art equipment and comfortable conditions for the provision of medical services: a modular hospital has been put into operation in the Mykolaiv region

A modular hospital was opened in Berezanka, Mykolaiv region, where medical services can be provided with modern equipment. The institution was built with the financial participation of the German government.

The opening of the diagnostic center took place on Tuesday, December 12, the correspondent of NikVesti reports.

The idea of building such a modular facility appeared last year, when the territory of the Mykolaiv region was systematically under fire from the Russian military. Then there was an understanding that the medical field of the region could face problems.

«The modular hospital in Berezanka is not a spontaneous decision. We determined the needs of our partners and surveyed their capabilities. In particular, we took into account that the Berezanka community was in a fairly advantageous location, and potentially the hospital here can serve not only residents, but also guests in case of need. In fact, what we were able to implement and what we can see with our own eyes is a big bonus for the community, and for us the understanding that our plans to improve medical services in rural areas are fully and completely working,» said the representative of the project.

Next to the hospital, the designers installed an autonomous solar power station with an installed capacity of 70 kW. This is necessary for the uninterrupted functioning of all medical equipment. In case of emergency power supply to the hospital, a modern 160 kW diesel generator with a fuel reserve is also installed.

In addition, in order to secure the facility, HESCO barriers have been installed around the building to protect the hospital from debris in case of possible shelling. The area of the building is 500 square meters, and its cost, including the equipment, is 60 million hryvnias, said Andrii Yandiuk, the national advisor of the project.

A total of 18 offices are functioning in the institution: functional diagnostics (ECG, EEG, ultrasound, etc.), laboratory tests, the office of the therapist, ENT, ophthalmologist, gynecologist, surgeon, manipulation and consultation offices, physiotherapy, etc.

«We chose the most necessary and modern medical equipment, which allows us to provide both primary and specialized medical care. The peculiarity is that there is equipment here that can be used at the tertiary level, and it is valuable that such equipment is available only in regional hospitals, if at all. For example, it is very valuable to have and be able to perform a cardiogram under physical stress. And the service will be free. We can do an audiogram here, we can check hearing acuity. It is rare for hospitals to have such equipment,» the project representatives added.

The diagnostic center is located next to the district hospital. According to the head doctor of the Central District Hospital, in order to staff the new facility, some doctors will be transferred to work there. Currently, it is almost 100% staffed.

«There is a small problem with the ENT, but we have all the other doctors. But we do not transport everyone here from the hospital. For example, the traumatologist remains in his place because the X-ray department is there, and it is inconvenient. There is a large laboratory there. Part of the gynecology department and dentistry also remain in the polyclinic. They will be treated here, just like in a regular polyclinic. It's very nice here, it's a super modern institution, we are extremely satisfied,» said director of KNP Berezanka Central District Hospital Vasyl Haydarzhi.

According to experts' calculations, the modular facility can serve up to 200 people per day. Currently, based on the formed list of needs for the use of new equipment, doctors will receive training from leading specialists.
