Armenia ratified the Rome Statute: now Putin can be arrested there

At its meeting on October 3, the Parliament of Armenia ratified the Rome Statute, which obliges the country to comply with the decisions of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

As reported by Trend.az, the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin for the illegal deportation and transfer of children from the occupied territories of Ukraine to Russia.

Thus, Armenia undertook to comply with the decision of the International Criminal Court. The same one who issued the warrant for the arrest of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the Russian Commissioner for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova.

It should be noted that in April of this year, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Armenia Hakop Arshakyan said that the country is not going to arrest Putin on the basis of the warrant of the International Criminal Court even after the ratification of the Rome Statute by the country's parliament. According to him, «Armenia listened to the concerns of the Russian Federation and is able to ensure that the further process related to the Rome Statute does not harm the strategic relations between Armenia and Russia."
