«The war showed that we can't be purely touristic», — the Kobleve community spoke about the work on the restoration program

In the Kobleve community of the Mykolaiv region, they plan to develop non-tourist business areas so that «the community is completely independent from any risks».

Svitlana Talokha, secretary of the Kobleve village council, told about this in a comment to NikVesti.

Previously, tourism was the main driver of the local economy, but the war showed that the community cannot be purely touristic, says the secretary of the village council. And that's why, she adds, the local government is currently looking for other options for community development.

— Our community was touristic. The war showed us that we can no longer be purely touristic. We knew this before, but time gave us opportunities to look for other options. Today, of course, we can no longer be only a tourist community, due to the fact that the season and business have changed, and, accordingly, the budget of the village council. We cannot allow this to happen, which is why even before that we planned our activities in such a way as to maximize opportunities for job creation and the development of other areas of business, — said Svitlana Talokha.

For this, the community is working on the preparation of a master plan and a recovery program. This work has been going on gradually since 2017, explained the secretary of the village council.

— No restoration is possible if you do not prepare basic land management documents, which will enable you to participate in all possible grant programs later. We are working on the creation of an industrial park, and we are including such a direction as water supply in the program. The war confirmed that focusing only on rest is wrong. We are planning a modern community where there will be both wind power and protective structures. Unfortunately, we don't have them, which is why schools are suffering - they have been working online for two years. I would like the community to be completely independent from any risks,» — said Svitlana Talokha.
