Russia refused to participate in the second Peace Summit, which is planned to be held by the end of 2024.

This was stated by the spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mariia Zakharova, Radio Svoboda reports.

She stated that this process has nothing to do with the settlement of the conflict.

«Representatives of Russia have not participated in any meetings within the framework of the «Bürgenstock process» and are not going to. This process itself has nothing to do with settlement,» said Mariia Zakharova.

She believes that at the summit they will try to promote Zelenskyy's peace formula as an «unalternative basis for resolving the conflict», at the same time the world majority will present Russia with an «ultimatum to surrender».

Mariia Zakharova also emphasized that Moscow is allegedly ready to discuss «really serious proposals that take into account the situation on Earth and geopolitical realities.»

Peace Summit

On June 15-16, the Global Peace Summit initiated by Ukraine took place in Switzerland. Russia was not invited to it, but the final communique of the summit planned to pave the way for future negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine already has confirmation of participation in the Peace Summit from more than 80 countries, and also called on US President Joseph Biden and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping to join it.

China has refused to participate in the Global Peace Summit to be held in June in Switzerland. According to them, Beijing rejected the invitation because the conditions for participation were not met — the presence of both Ukraine and Russia at the conference.

Swiss President Viola Amgerd said that 90 countries and organizations, half of which are European, have confirmed their participation in the Peace Summit regarding Ukraine.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, arrived in Switzerland for the Peace Summit.

Russian journalists came to the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland organized by Ukraine.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, called on representatives of the countries to draw up an «action plan» so that the end of the war could be recorded at the second meeting at the Peace Summit.

It was also reported that the final declaration of the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland will indicate the guilt of Russia, which launched a full-scale war against Ukraine, causing large-scale human suffering and destruction.

It will be recalled that earlier, Iraq and Jordan withdrew their signatures under the communiqué, thus the number of countries joining the document decreased from 80 to 78.

At the same time, Deputy Head of the President's Office Ihor Zhovkva said on Radio Svoboda that Iraq and Jordan did not sign the communiqué following the peace summit, and their appearance in the list of signatories was a «technical failure.» The deputy head of the President's Office also said that these countries are «ongoing work» and may need more time.

Also, after Iraq and Jordan, Rwanda disappeared from the list of signatories of the joint communiqué of the Peace Summit.
